Sharing and Using Different Types of Data in TMS

Emerging data sources can enhance current traffic management and TMS activities (e.g., rapid identification and warning of unsafe speeds, lane control, etc.). To collect, compile, archive, use, and share data from emerging new sources of data will require TMSs to adopt methods and make revisions to their software and data subsystems. Many TMSs have limited capabilities to easily accommodate changes to their software or data subsystems to allow for these new sources of data to be collected and used. This project will synthesize practices and develop a technical report to support integrating, developing and managing the use of new software programs and APIs on the software subsystem to enable new data sources, actions and functions of a TMS.
