Enabling the Sharing and Use of Open-Source or Agency Owned Software and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
Agencies may utilize a mix of commercial and non-commercial software, components, interfaces, and applications within their Traffic Management System (TMS). There exists a potential benefit to identify and share components and applications that are based on open-source software which can be of benefit to other agencies. Without an understanding of how open-source and agency owned software and APIs are currently developed, licensed, and/or used within agency TMSs, it is challenging to assess the potential opportunities and benefits, investigate feasibility, and plan for potential use and coordinated sharing across agencies. This project will develop a concept for enabling the sharing and use of open-source or agency owned software supporting a TMS with other agencies, including developing an understanding of related factors and constraints.
